Tours run most weekends or on weekdays , according to demand, and the routes taken will depend on the vehicles in the group and the weather. We operate a ‘tread lightly’ policy and run in groups of no more than five vehicles at a time (including guide), however there are miles of lanes in the area and we can run two or three groups at any one time. Not all driving can be on the greenlanes of course but we try to keep to quieter minor roads which can be driven at a relaxed pace whilst enjoying the scenery.

Routes in the Brecons tend to be more ‘open’, i.e. across open moorland, than those in the Wye Valley, which tend to go through wooded areas. Please be aware that whilst we take care to pick the lanes we use dependant upon the vehicles on the trip, the lanes in the Valley carry a greater chance of causing scratching to vehicles than those in the Brecons. All routes have been driven in Dan’s lifted Range Rover with a roof rack on to assess for difficulty and possible damage that may be incurred!

A full day’s driving can be had in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean alone but can be very challenging in parts. Where we get to tricky bits we stop and review the terrain and discuss the best way over it. As we operate on routes that are public rights of way all vehicles must be road legal i.e. insured, taxed and have a current MOT if applicable and, of course, you must have a full UK Driving License.

Depending on demand, we can ‘tailor’ the tours to take in particular places such as Tintern Abbey, The border castles, Symonds Yat, Civil war sites, Industrial heritage, etc, etc. Let us know what you want and we’ll put together an itinerary.

Good preparation is essential so we will brief you and check your vehicle over prior to departure. If there is a significant problem found that we can’t sort quickly we may have to defer your tour to another date, so please make sure that both you and your motor are up to the scratch on the day. For your own safety and well-being we suggest you wear robust, waterproof boots and have a good coat and change of clothes in your vehicle. You are more likely to be hurt outside of your vehicle rather than when driving so please be aware and look after yourself and your passengers.

Your tour will be led by one of our well-prepared Land Rovers and we believe that we can cope with most eventualities. Although we advise and assist as much as possible the final decision in any situation is yours and your safety (and that of your family or passengers) is your own responsibility. We can take no responsibility for any incident or accident resulting from your actions.
